As educational professionals, we support teacher expertise and autonomy. We oppose the current educational reform initiative known as the "Common Core State Standards Initiative" for many reasons, paramount among them, the difficulty that they will create in allowing teachers to be responsive to student learning needs.

OPT OUT!
In many states, parents have the right to "opt out" of the tests on behalf of their children. The founders of United Opt Out have excellent information from a global perspective as well as details about how to opt out on a state-by-state basis.
Link to United Opt Out here.
Kim has exercised this right in PA for the last seven years. Her sons have never taken an NCLB high stakes test (in PA, the PSSAs and the Keystones.)
