SPEAK OUT!

We hope very much that our NCTE session was just the tip of the iceberg and that you will continue to find ways to make people care about what you think and what you feel.  Indeed, the way in which experienced teacher and scholarly voices were all but ignored in the rush to impose the CCSSI is one of the things that anger us the most.   

 

Think about your situation and your beliefs.  Who needs to hear from you first?

 

As you think about your target audience, consider the guidelines expressed by Peggy Robertson (a.k.a., Peg with a Pen!), one of the founders of United Opt Out (link here).  In her personal blog here she gives great counsel about how to express your discontent. 

 

Within the NCTE, consider writing to current president Sandi Hayes, president-elect Ernest Morrell, or executive director Kent Williamson.  They can all be reached at NCTE Headquarters:
